Valley Equine is looking for a quality team member as a Mare Breeding Manager within the facility. We are seeking someone that is incredibly detailed and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate can multi-task while remaining calm and interacting professionally with clients and assisting the veterinarians and customers with their needs.
During Breeding Season:
- Daily Palpations: This position works as a personal assistant to assigned veterinarians while at the stocks. This includes but is not limited to entering all palpations into Wise Option, updating breeding cards, administering shots to mares, organization of mares within the barns, ordering outside semen for onsite mares, and communicating with customers with results on breeding’s, flushes, and lab reports is a daily.
- Organization of Flush Mares: The breeding manager is responsible for the organization of all flush mares. This includes updating the daily flush board, notifying ET facilities of ovulations, communicating with clients when the mare ovulates, ET Date, and results through Wise Option and/or phone call. Once the results of the flush are established, the breeding manager will communicate this with the ET facilities and arrange transportation, and update the flush log in Wise Option and the spreadsheet.
- Animal Welfare: This position is responsible for overseeing the animal welfare and health of all mares on-site. This includes overseeing feeding requirements, coordinating general care and health management and communicating with customers and veterinarians on the health of mares.
- Lab Work: All coggins/health papers, labs and progesterone tests will be overseen and recorded appropriately by this position.
During Off Season:
- During the “Breeding Off Season”, secondary responsibilities include helping with yearling sale prep for the NRCHA Snaffle Bit, NCHA Futurity, and Triangle Sales.
- Computer experience is required - Wise Option 6 and Microsoft Excel experience is preferred
- Equine reproduction knowledge is preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- Must be able to draw blood, give IM/IV shots
- Problem solve and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
