Lisa Szwejbka

Brazos Valley Stallion Station is proud to announce its new General Manager, Lisa Szwejbka, who has replaced the retiring, Frank Merrill in that role.

Many of you are familiar with Lisa, having worked through and with her in order to ensure your mares received the best care and achieved pregnancies over the past few seasons.

The ownership and Frank Merrill feel Lisa is just the right person to lead the farm, its stallions, and its employees to even greater influence in the Western performance horse breeding industry.

Lisa Szwejbka graduated from Tarleton State University in 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in animal science, with an equine certificate specialization in reproduction. She began her time here at Brazos Valley Stallion Station as the Mare Breeding Manager in 2019. She has coordinated and managed the shipping of thousands of embryo transfers and over 3000 on-farm breeding mares during her tenure. Lisa has foaled out countless mares and is proficient in many basic vet-medical procedures.

In her role as the manager of broodmares at Brazos Valley Stallion Station, Lisa was responsible for oversight and management of all the breeding employees, their activity, scope of work, and duties during the breeding season. She was also responsible for managing the huge inventories of medical and breeding supplies critical to the efficiencies of breeding farm management.

Since July 15, 2023, she has embraced her new role as General Manager and is excited to have the opportunity to further develop Brazos Valley Stallion Station in the future.

Outside of work, she has two Dobermans that keep her on her toes. Lastly, for anyone who has read this far and still wants to know, her last name is pronounced, “Sweb-ka” or more simply, “Smith”.
