Valley Equine Reproduction is proud to introduce its 2026 undergraduate internship program, built for students ready to take the next step toward careers in equine reproduction, veterinary medicine, and performance horse management.
With two core internship tracks available—Breeding Season and Sales Prep—this program offers hands-on experience inside one of the highest-volume breeding operations in the country. Each role is designed to challenge and prepare students by placing them at the center of real, fast-paced, professional work.
Based in Stephenville, Texas, Valley Equine stands more than 45 of the industry’s leading stallions. In the 2025 season alone, the team shipped 5,589 semen doses, completed 661 embryo flushes, bred 1,169 mares on-site, and foaled out 211 foals. Interns take part in this daily volume, developing the tools to work confidently in professional settings.

Breeding Season Internship
January 1, 2026 – July 15, 2026
Applications due October 1, 2025
This internship places students directly in the reproductive center during the busiest months of the year. Interns assist with foaling mares, preparing and handling mares for reproductive exams, helping with embryo flushes and transfers, administering treatments, and maintaining overall mare and foal health.
Students work side-by-side with Valley’s veterinary and breeding teams, gaining insight into every phase of the reproduction process. The environment is fast-paced and high-volume, and interns must be confident handling horses, able to lift 50 pounds, and prepared to work ten-hour days, six days a week.

Sales Prep Internship
August 1, 2026 – December 15, 2026
Applications due May 15, 2026
In this role, interns join the yearling prep team to fit and present horses for national-level sales, including the Western Bloodstock NRCHA and NCHA Futurity Sales and the Triangle Fall Sale. Responsibilities include grooming, feeding, conditioning, blanketing, and assisting with farrier, supplement, and scheduling routines.
With more than 200 horses passing through the prep program each fall, interns get hands-on exposure to what it takes to manage horses bound for the sale ring. Applicants should be detail-driven, reliable, and comfortable handling yearlings in a structured environment.
Both the Breeding Season and Sales Prep internships require a cover letter, resume, and two letters of recommendation. For full internship descriptions, FAQs, and the application instructions, visit

Spring 2026 Rehabilitation Internship
In addition to the core Valley Equine internships, Valley Equine Rehabilitation will offer an internship for students interested in equine therapy, performance recovery, and sports medicine.
The Spring 2026 Rehab Internship focuses on cold therapy, hand-walking, AquaTred sessions, and solarium work under the supervision of the rehab manager. Interns also help document progress and support conditioning protocols for horses in recovery.
Applications for the rehab track are due November 15, 2025 and should be sent directly to
lane.wood@valleyequinerepro.com.
Whether it’s in the breeding barn, on the walker, or in the rehab center, Valley Equine’s internship program is built for students who want more than a classroom education. It’s for those who are ready to work hard, learn fast, and walk away with the tools to build real careers in the performance horse world.
